Welcome to the ENGLISH version of the Koperpoets Website
If you check out their clothing, you’ll see 5 men with some brass instruments. But something is just not quite right... It is a kind of musical theatre.
Koperpoets distinguishes itself from ordinary brass ensembles by the combination of images, theatre and sound. They look into the audience and tell a story.
Koperpoets will use the complete stage and move from left to right while playing. They have memorized all the sheet music and act while playing. The music reaches from Austrian tunes to well known songs and from solo for the tuba to music from the medieval ages.
Koperpoets will joke around with the public while the music is recognizable. Their performance is fun to watch while at the same time they are admired for their virtuosity.
A more accurate description of this group of musicians:
A bunch of guys who are capable of messing up a complete musical performance.
The cryptogram ‘Koperpoets’ cannot be translated into English. It is more or less a term for 5 brass enthusiasts joking around with the public. ‘Koper’ is Dutch for brass, while a ‘poets’ is a joke. On the other hand ‘koperpoets’ is also brass polish fluid.
